This Indenture made the Thirty first Day of May Seventeen hundred & fifty three, Between Read Fletcher & Tabitha his Wife, of the county of Accomack of the one Part, & William Dunton & Solomon Walter of the County of Northampton of the other part. Witnesseth That whereas Solomon Walter late of Northampton county Planted deced was in his Life Time seised of a Tract, or Parcel of Land containing One hundred & Sixty Acres & scituate lying & being in the aforesaid County of Northampton the Dower or thirds of which one Hundred & Sixty Acres of Land the said Tabitha as Relict of the said Solomon Walter after his Death was intitled to, and the said Read Fletcher Intermarrying with the said Relict, became also in Right of his said wife siesed of the said Dower or Thirds, of the said One hundred & Sixty acres of Land. Now this Indenture further Witnesseth that the said Read Fletcher & Tabitha his Wife for & in Consideration of the Sum of Ten pounds Current Money of the Colony of Virginia to them in hand Paid by the said William Dunton & Solomon Walter, before the Execution hereof, the receipt whereof the said Read and Tabitha do hereby acknowledge, Have granted Bargained & Sold, & by these Presents Do grant bargain & sell, unto the said William Dunton & Solomon Walter, their heirs and Assigns, all the Right Title & Interest of Dower, or thirds, with the appurtenances, which they now have, of and in the said One hundred & sixty acres of Land, as the same was Laid off, and bounded. To have and to hold the said Dower or thirds with the appurtenances, of & in the said One hundred & Sixty Acres of Land, to them the said William Dunton & Solomon Walter, their Heirs & assigns forever, & to and for no other Use Intent or Purpose whatsoever. And the said Read Fletcher for himself & the said Tabitha his wife doth Covenant promise & agree, to & with the said William Dunton and Solomon Walter, that they the said Read & Tabitha, the Dower or Thirds of and, in the said one hundred & sixty Acres of Land, with the appurtenances unto the said William Dunton & Solomon Walter, and their Heirs, against themselves the said Read & Tabitha & their heirs, against themselves the said Read & Tabitha & their heirs and every other Person claiming Right or Title thereto, Will Warrant & the same forever Defend. In Witness whereof the said Read & Tabitha have the Day & Year first above written, set their Hands and Seals. The words with the appurtenances twice interlined before Sealing
