Deed from Jehu Gladding and his wife Sally, to Elisha Garrett 14 April 1797

This Indenture made this fourteenth day of April anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and Ninety seven, Between Jehu Glading and Sally his wife of the parish and County of Accomack in Virginia of the one Part, and Elisha Garrett of the same place of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Jehu Gladding and Sally his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of Eighteen Pounds Current Money of Virginia to them paid by the aforesaid Elisha Garrett at and before the Ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged bargained sold enfeofed and confirmed unto the said Elisha Garrett hi heirs and assigns forever all rite title and interest to that part or Tract of Land lying and being in the parish and County of Accomack aforesaid bounded Vizt by the Lands of the said Elisha Garrett on the west by the Lands of John Wilkerson on the North by the lands of Smith Horsey on the East and by the Lands of Ephrim Milman on the South which formerly belong to George Stratton decd the father of the aforesaid Sally Glading who died Intestate which said Eight title and Interest [-----] unto the said Sally Glading the wife of the said Jehu by virtue of the Laws of this Commonwealth To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained and granted premises with all right title & interest unto the said Elisha Garrett his heirs & assigns forever to and for the only proper use benefit & behoof of the said Elisha Garrett his heirs and assigns for ever and for no other use interest or purpose whatsoever and the said Jehu Glading and Sally his wife thee Land and premises the right title and interest aforesaid with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging against themselves and their heirs unto the said Elisha Garrett his heirs and assigns forever will warrant, and by these presents forever defend In testimony whereof the said Jehu Glading and Sally his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written

At a Court held for Accomack County September 25 1797 This Deed for Jehu and Sally his Wife Elisha Garritt was acknowledged by the said Jehu and Sally as their act and deed the said Sally being first privily examined as the Law directs did voluntarily consent thereto and ordered to be recorded
